Test Stand for Bicycle Hubs
Task and Process
The test bench described below for multiple gear hubs records all relevant variables. After the operator has inserted the hub and the protective hood has closed, the individual functions, such as gear changing or braking, can be carried out automatically. The shift cable force, switch position, hub speed and hub casing, the lost motion angle and smooth running are measured.
The test bench detects various hub types so that a certain variability of the parts, e.g. with respect to the number of gears, can be tested without tooling.
The determined values appear in a clear table; those variables that cannot be met can be immediately identified. Also, nonconforming parts can only be removed after manual input.
