Bending and Testing System for Throttle Flaps

Task and Process

The following is a description of a bending and measuring system that is used to bend the sheet metal parts that are embedded in the throttle valves. This process is then checked by means of measurements. Apart from part loading and removal, the system equipped with the rotary indexing table runs fully automatically.

After the throttle cap has been inserted, the process starts with the bending of the sheet metal elements. The next station checks that the sheet metal tabs have been shaped correctly by moving four measuring sensors onto the sheet metal tabs and checking the relevant dimensions. The throttle valve is lifted and rotated in the next station. This is how the outer diameter and the concentricity are measured with measuring sensors.

Those parts that were not within the tolerances during the previous measurements are now ejected automatically and moved to a container for nonconforming parts. The operator forwards all other throttle valves and these can then be removed.
