Air-sprung Precision Testing Table
Task and Process
The table presented here was developed for precise measurement of parts with a laser measuring device. This comprises a basic frame that is very rigid and heavy welded design.
The special aspect here is the air spring-supported clamping plate. This type of bearing decouples the vibrations from the environment so that they do not impact on the measuring results, e.g. when adjacent machines move. Secondly, the level of the table top is balanced via the air springs. As a result, the part that needs to be measured is always horizontal regardless of its weight and weight distribution. The part does not swing either due to the very low natural frequency of the air springs, even if highly dynamic machines transfer vibrations e.g. into the ground.
Dimensions of table-top [mm]:
1400 x 800 x 120
Weight of table-top:
980 kg
Bearings:
4 x air diaphragm springs
Natural frequency of the air springs:
approx. 2.3 Hz at 6 bar
Load-bearing capacity of the air springs in total:
40 kN at 6 bar
